How much does occult teachings influence what shows, movies, commercials and games are created and distributed? Would you even know if what you were watching had occult teachings or beliefs in them? When i started to read "The Kingdom of the Occult" by Dr. Walter Martin I did not realize how much of different occult beliefs influenced what i was watching. This book is a combination of Dr. Walter Martin's transcripts, lectures and sections of his writings with the addition of chapters, comments and critiques by Jill Martin Rische (Walter Martin's daughter) and Kurt Van Gorden (Watler Martin's long time researcher and family friend). You can read about it in the introduction of the book.

The Kingdom of the Occult by Dr. Walter Martin has loads of information on the different Cults around the world. As i was reading i started to realize some of the shows that i was enjoying at the time were things that God does not find pleasing. Well i stopped watching and for a while it was a challenge, however i had resolved in my mind to remove from my life the shows that were not pleasing to the Lord. I continued to read Kingdom of the Occult and in a chapter it mentioned one of the shows i was watching and the specific occult influence in it. To me it was confirmation on what i was already being guided by the Holy Spirit.

The Kingdom of the Occult is a well researched and good guide on several different occults around the world. From far back in history to our current age The Kingdom of the Occult covers some of the people that were founders of certain occult practices and the influence it has had on society. The case studies that appear throughout the book gives the reader a personal view on how someone involved in the occult has been effected and how some of them found deliverance in Jesus Christ.

If you are a person that wants to know more about the occult from a follower of Christ perspective then i recommend this book. Its a good size book with 678 pages to read and then a question & answer section at the end. It has many references some are books others are links to websites. It would be useful in a Bible study group or in your own personal devotion time. Granted as you read it you may find that what you are consuming in entertainment everyday is laced with occult teachings that God has forbid His followers from partaking in.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12a
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

Galatians 5:20-21
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
