I posted a few days ago about this Miracle Fruit (Synsepalum dulcificum) that i was going to attempt to grow. From the Discovery article i followed the link to the miraclefruitman.com site and  here is a list of foods off that site that taste sweet using the Miracle Fruit.

Now i won't be trying any of the Beers, however Brussels sprouts? Really, my wife likes Brussels sprouts, and i don't. I have not grown them in the garden because i don't like them, however if the Miracle Fruit works on them, then i will have no excuse for not growing them. :-D

I  want to give a big thanks to ethansgarden.com for getting my seeds (Miracle Fruit) to me very quickly. I was surprised at how fast they arrived i was not expecting them before the end of the year. Also talking of fast delivery. The team over at www.horizonherbs.com had my order of Goji (Lycium barbarum)  berries and Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) seeds to me before the end of the year as well. I received the seeds from both companies on the same day. It was an exciting time for Simon and i... i think he was excited because i was excited. :-D

With the Goji berries i have heard of three different ways to plant the seeds. Two ways were to soak the seeds for 24 hours, the other did not specify. So this is what i did.

1. Soak seeds for 24 hours.
2. Split seeds into three equal piles
   1. 7 seeds we planted in the berries.
   2. 7 seeds we split open and planted open end up in soil
   3. 7 seeds i removed all (or as all as i could tell) from the berry and planted into soil.
3. Put a little moisture over the seeds
4. Cover with plastic wrap and place on top of fridge. (Things get warm up there)

So with that all done i will see what way produces the most sprouts. I am feeling that the one that i spread all the seeds out will do the best, however the argument that the berry flesh protects the seeds and will produce sprouts does sound good. We will see. I am taking photos of my progress and created a youtube channel. I will make a short little video and post a link when it's done.

And Even More News

What! Did you think i was done? Well i have ordered more seeds for two different plants. One being the Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) and the other Schizandra (Schisandra chinensis) AKA wu wei zi in Chinese AKA Five Flavour Fruit (salty, sweet, sour, pungent (spicy), and bitter.). These are superfoods that are getting more attention. If it  grows naturally (Non-GMO) and taste good, why not eat it? I know what your thinking, where on that little land God has lent you will you put all this stuff? Well i'm doing allot of praying that God will lend to me more land. :-D And yes growing stuff is still driving my wife crazy. I will post updates on this when i have the seeds and have them in something to try and get them to grow. The top of the fridge is going to be packed. :-) And i have not even went over the list of seeds i got for the garden this year... I will post about that when they arrive.
